Aims and Scope

COLLEGIA publishes scholarly and practice-informed work that advances governance, quality enhancement, innovation, and teaching and learning in higher education.

The journal aims to bridge policy, institutional leadership, and pedagogical practice by providing a platform where research, practice, and sector insights contribute to strengthening institutional capability and improving student learning outcomes.

COLLEGIA is intended for scholars, institutional leaders, academic developers, and higher education professionals engaged in advancing governance, quality enhancement, and teaching and learning in higher education.

Types of Contributions

The journal publishes the following types of contributions:

  • Research Articles (6000 words) - Empirical or conceptual studies contributing to knowledge in higher education governance, quality assurance, teaching and learning, and institutional leadership.
  • Practice and Innovation Reports (2500 words) - Scholarly accounts of institutional initiatives or innovations that enhance governance, teaching and learning, student success, or institutional effectiveness.
  • Case Studies (4000 words) - In-depth examinations of institutional policies, reforms, or strategic initiatives in higher education.
  • Policy and Sector Analysis (4000 words) - Analytical papers examining developments in higher education policy, regulation, governance frameworks, and system-level reform.
  • Invited Commentaries or Perspectives (1500 words) - Short reflective pieces written by sector leaders, scholars, or practitioners addressing emerging issues and debates in higher education.

Additional occasional contributions may include:

  • Book Reviews (800–1200 words)
  • Special Issue Papers responding to themed calls for submissions

Publishing Timeline

Regular Issue (Third Quarter)

COLLEGIA publishes one regular issue annually, typically released in the third quarter of the year. Manuscripts are accepted on a rolling basis and undergo double-blind peer review prior to publication.

Lumen Conference Papers

Selected papers from the annual Lumen Conference (biennial conference), organised through the Lumen Research Institute partnership between Excelsia University College and Indiana Wesleyan University, may be considered for publication in COLLEGIA.

The editorial process for conference papers follows the journal's standard peer review procedures:

  • Peer review typically begins two months after the conclusion of the conference.
  • Papers may be published as part of the regular annual issue or in a separate themed or special issue, depending on the volume and editorial decision of the Editorial Board.

Article Processing Charges

The journal has no article processing charges or fees for authors to submit or publish as part of a Diamond Open Access approach. All articles are free to read and reshare.
