Strengthening the future of academic editing, peer review, and open publishing.
Supporting the OAPA mission, the Academy delivers professional learning designed to build confidence, capability, and quality in academic publishing. Our programs help editors, peer reviewers, and authors develop the skills needed to assess manuscripts rigorously, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to a stronger and more trusted research ecosystem.
High-quality academic publishing depends on knowledgeable editors and reviewers. OAPA Academy was established to support the development of these capabilities through structured, practical, and academically grounded learning.
Our learning program provides regular education opportunities in open publishing, with a focus on helping participants evaluate whether manuscripts are original, significant, theoretically and methodologically sound, appropriately situated in the literature, and relevant to their field. Just as importantly, we support the development of feedback practices that are constructive, ethical, actionable, and professionally delivered.
Courses are designed for busy academics and combine synchronous and asynchronous learning so participants can engage flexibly while still benefiting from live discussion and expert facilitation.
OAPA currently offers two short, four-month online courses that provide a strong introduction to peer review and journal editing roles.
